Using Speakaboo
Speakaboo has been developed for professionals in language development, for example a speech therapist or pathologist. Speakaboo does not replace the professional. If the professional does not speak the target language, we advise the use of an interpreter or a child's family member to assist during testing.
Playful yet systematic
Small interactions reveal images of the words, soliciting spontaneous naming of the pictures by the child.
The selection and order of the words ensure that all relevant speech sound abilities are covered, giving insight in both speech and vocabulary development of the child.
Audio Recording
Speakaboo records the child's speech while using the program.
The recordings can be reviewed later on the device. It is also possible to listen to the target word pronounced by an adult native speaker, making it easy to compare the child’s delivery to the target word.
Professional Resources
Speakaboo is more than an app. It offers information on the included languages: their respective phonological systems, frequent phonological processes, and—if available—data on the performance of typically developing children on the test. Score forms are provided, as well as video’s of word pronunciation.
